The Sci-Fi Channel becomes Syfy with their rebranding and redesign. TVWeek has a full write up on the (supposed) move away from geekdom here. As the science fiction genre continues to expand we have to wonder if the content supercedes the brand.

WTF is this shit? Sci Fi Channel, you air Gundam 00. Do you really think you can ditch the “geek” label now?
Though I guess one would argue they’ve never been particularly nerdy. If they really were hardcore into science fiction they would be the “SF Channel.” /sarcasm
