Films of 2012: Hooray, time for more inane ramblings! Yeah, I watched Beastly. Can you believe it was my boyfriend’s idea? I think he was interested mostly due to that Penny Arcade strip he likes to quote at me and that it had just come out on DVD, or something. It was as terrible as you thought it would be, but hey, at least it wasn’t Twilight. Oh, and Mary-Kate Olsen, I love you, I especially love goth you, but please be in better movies. You too, NPH.
50/50 was not so much the bromance comedy it was advertised as, as it was just kind of a dramady about Joseph Gordon-Levitt getting cancer and how much it sucks. Seth Rogen’s character was - predictably - an asshole, but the movie overall was good. Therapist girl was adorable and I want to see more movies with her in it.
Dirty Girl may have overthrown Return of the Joker for my favorite movie so far this year. I can’t believe how good it was and I wish I had gone to see it when it was out in theaters. And I now understand why so much of Tumblr worships Juno Temple.
And The Woman in Black - which I have been waiting for ever since I saw those first pictures of DanRad with scruffy facial hair wearing Victorian Era-ish clothing - was definitely worth the price of a movie ticket. Though it relied a lot on jump scares, it did it in a way that didn’t get old/annoying. I recommend it if you’ve got nothing better to do for the rest of the weekend. And compared to the 1980s version I watched a few months ago, it had a much, much better ending.
